Privacy

Last updated: October 15, 2026. The IMC Lab + Gallery (“the lab”, “we”) runs theimclab.com and the apps listed below. Questions or requests: info@theimclab.com.

On this site

  • No tracking cookies, no advertising, and nothing from other companies when a page loads.
  • Visit counts. Each page view and a few actions (opening a project, sharing, signing up) are written to a file on our server with the page, the referring site, the device type and time zone. A visitor is a code made from the IP address, browser and date with a secret: it counts a visit for one day and cannot be turned back into an IP address or followed across days. No IP address is stored. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected.
  • Contact form. Your name, email, subject and message, the page you came from and a reference number are stored on our server, outside the website’s public files, and emailed to the lab.
  • Portals early access and the resources list. Your email, the roles you choose and any profile links you add are stored the same way and emailed to the lab. Nothing is sent to you automatically.
  • Camera and hand tracking (only if you turn them on). Images from your camera are processed in your browser and never leave your device. Turning the feature on downloads the tracking software from jsDelivr and its models from Google, which see your IP address like any download.
  • Voice (only if you turn it on). Voice commands use your browser’s own speech recognition; your browser’s maker (for example Google or Apple) processes the audio under its own policy.
  • Live room (only if you join). Video, audio and data go directly between participants, so the others in the room receive your stream and your IP address. Our server only introduces participants: it keeps the name you enter and who is in the room while it is open, and any report you file. A Google STUN server helps browsers connect.
  • Links out (app stores, YouTube, press) take you to sites with their own policies.

We keep messages and signups until you ask us to delete them, use them only to reply and to run the lab, and never sell them. Ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold: info@theimclab.com.

Our apps

This section covers Paint-AR, Mask-AR and Powers of 10. The apps may collect device and usage information (such as device model, operating system, language, country, and how and when the app is used) and crash reports through the analytics built into the app engine. We use it only for our own statistics and to fix problems, and we never sell it. Downloads and any purchases are handled by Apple or Meta under their own policies; we never see payment details.

Paint-AR

Paint-AR uses your camera to place drawings, 3D holograms and effects in the room, and may use your microphone when you record video. Recordings are saved to your device, and you choose whether to share them.

Mask-AR

Mask-AR uses your front camera to place masks on your face, and may use your microphone when you record video. Recordings are saved to your device, and you choose whether to share them.

Powers of 10

Powers of 10 runs on iPhone, iPad and Meta Quest.

Children

The site and apps are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
